Cities are over-rated - I am reminded every time I visit one. I recognize that I am a fortunate one, needing to drive near a city only about once a week in order to quickly launch into the sky for yet another place, preferably a town somewhere in "fly-over" country.

That's too close to my former distopian view of the world before I moved away, far away. Now, the only dogs I see are the packs that roam the country roads, gathering at 5pm, waiting for their "regulars" to bring them dinner. The fifty-somethings are tattooed old white men with long black-haired Asian girls hanging on their arms, looking in the store windows at trinkets that they'll save for the day when it's all a memory, their children raised by their families in the villages that were their homes before the money ran out and they had to move to the city to find a job or a man to pay the rent. Each scenario has it's own sadness and we have a way to not indulge in it.
